Girls Spring Tournament
What a fantastic girls team we have had this year! We won the Autumn Tournament, came second in the County, came second in the league and then played our final tournament of the season at John Hunt Academy.
The girls were outstanding again! They played great football in the group stages recording three wins and a draw.
In the semi-final, they came up against Barnby Road - who also have a remarkable team this year and pipped LWJ to the league title - in a stunning game of football. I think it's fair to say that LWJ were the dominant team and looked the most likely to score in the semi-final but unfortunately for us we couldn't land a decisive blow and the game went to penalties.
After some superb goalkeeping from both keepers, Barnby Road eventually came out on top leaving our girls once again disappointed. However, their attitude was phenomenal and they pulled their socks up for the 3rd and 4th place play-off which they won 2-0 against a very good Farndon side. Congratulations to Barnby Road who were the eventual winners. We look forward to more battles next season!
I am so proud of this team and look forward to hearing of their success for school and club in the future. Maybe there will be a few future Lionesses from LWJ...
